Android Phone Will Replace Credit Cards

VIVAnews - Google seems to have never stopped making a breakthrough. Once considered a success with the mobile phone operating system Android, Google took MasterCard, Citigroup and Sprint to launch mobile phone-based payment system.

The project, called Google Wallet will allow special chips which is planned to be installed on Android device, for use as payment. Rather than swipe a credit card, consumers are quite close and put its Android mobile phone into a special device to read the payment system.

"We are preparing a new era of trade, which we will bring online and offline simultaneously," said Google's VP of Commerce, Stephanie Tilenius when launching this project, as quoted from page CNN.

"We believe the shopping experience has not been transformed by technology or magic. Now, your phone can be a wallet. You can just touch your Android phone screen, pay, and save money,"said Stephanie.

Currently, only Citibank customers will be able to use their phones as wallets, mobile phones by connecting them with credit or debit card. However, Google is also developing open platforms that will be used with any card.

Google hopes will be many other companies became partners. Android users will be able to arrange their transactions through the application on his mobile.

This system is only available on Sprint phones Nexus S production. In order for this payment system can be used, Google does require chip NFC (Near-Field Communication) is installed on Android phones. This system will be installed in the latest version of the Android operating system, so that it can be used in the payment system.

Google Wallet will be launched in San Francisco and New York this summer. Next, will be launched nationwide in the United States in the following months.
